The first edition of Swiss Online Marketing 2009, the trade fair for digital marketing in Zurich, brought together 71 exhibitors and 1,148 trade visitors on 1 and 2 April. The new trade fair with its unique focus shed light on the diverse aspects of online marketing. At the exhibitors' stands, trade visitors learnt interesting facts about performance marketing, e-mail marketing, search engine marketing, affiliate marketing and permission marketing. While several providers specialised in web TV, video platforms and IPTV channels, others covered the topics of lead generation, web controlling, web analysis and market research. The exhibition was rounded off by the trade press stands. The supporting programme in two practical forums included more than 35 specialist presentations. The three keynote speakers Helmut Thoma, former managing director of RTL, Florian Haller, managing director of the Serviceplan agency group, and Sanjay Sauldie, director of the Internet Marketing Institute, were the highlights of the programme. Sanjay Sauldie knows what many entrepreneurs are missing on the Internet: web visitors who become customers. Born in India and raised in Germany, he was a convincing expert on optimising online business. In his keynote speech "Customer acquisition via the Internet - How to turn your website into a sales force", he explained in a very practical way what success on the Internet is based on. Mr Sauldie's presentation on the first day of the trade fair was clearly met with great interest by the trade audience: The speaker filled the practice forum to the last seat. Many other interested parties made do with a standing room only to enjoy his presentation. We were delighted to have Mr Sauldie as a keynote speaker for Swiss Online Marketing 2009. As an award-winning speaker and trainer, he was able to explain the complex world of internet marketing to the audience in an understandable and clear way. We would like to thank him for his outstanding contribution, which clearly enriched the trade fair.
