You've probably heard of Google AdSense and thought about giving it a try. But is it really worth including an AdSense banner on your website? The answer is clearly yes. You could always place another banner on your website or search for an affiliate advertising network and you would almost certainly make some money, provided your website has a healthy number of visitors.

However, affiliate marketing requires a visitor to your website to make a purchase before you get paid. But that's nothing compared to the benefits of AdSense. People who make a living with AdSense earn more than $100,000 a year. And it's not just about making more money.

First of all, the adverts are text only. This means that they are much less intrusive for your visitors than a typical, eye-catching banner designed to grab their attention. Of course, you need to make sure they are placed in a better position, but they are not as distracting to the viewer as traditional adverts. Think about how many websites you've seen that use pop-ups, floating adverts and other gimmicks that make the viewer cry out in anger every time. You can do better, annoy fewer people and still make a profit.

Secondly, the adverts are automatically created based on the content of your website. If you use an affiliate advertising programme, you must specify which category your website falls under. If a page on your website does not fall into one of these categories, the banners will no longer be displayed. This means that you may be showing the advert to people who are not interested in it, which can lead to inefficiencies. With Google AdSense, this almost never happens: the adverts on your website are always relevant to what your visitors are interested in, which increases the value of your website and the revenue it generates.

In addition, you can customise the design and size of these banners so that they blend in better with the rest of your website content and have a higher overall visual quality than a traditional method. For many people, finding others to advertise on their website is also a major challenge. AdSense is undoubtedly the easiest solution to this problem currently available.

Joining the AdSense programme is completely free and takes hardly any time at all. With more than 150,000 users, AdWords' potential database is far larger than anything you can find with other providers. As more and more people compete for the same search terms, the CPC (cost per click) for such searches will inevitably rise. Furthermore, installing AdSense on your website is easy and can be completed in less than an hour. The time required to set it up is significantly less than any other form of affiliate marketing, which is another reason to opt for the simple AdSense method.

All you have to do to place an AdSense banner on your website (apart from signing up for the programme) is copy and paste a few lines and you're done. You decide where to place the banners, how big they are and how they blend in with the rest of your website. This is a great strategy for any webmaster because it allows you to draw a line between the usability of your website and the amount of advertising you want. Some people desperately need the money, while others simply use AdSense to pay for hosting their website. AdSense is a fantastic advertising service because it has been carefully designed to "just work for everyone". It benefits users who use AdWords, webmasters who use AdSense and, most importantly, visitors to your website.
