Germany is also known around the world as the "land of poets and thinkers".

Names such as Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Friedrich Schiller and Thomas Mann are recognised all over the world. It is therefore not without reason that Germans are said to be particularly creative when it comes to artistic creation and writing. Thorough reflection is also often seen as a positive characteristic of Germans. Generations of writers, artists and philosophers have reinforced this reputation. Their works are not only read in German schools to this day. The works of German writers are also performed on the theatre stage. In some countries, Goethe is as well known as Shakespeare. There is a good reason for this. The famous Weimar Classicism is associated with Goethe and Schiller.

During this time, world-class literary works were written and outstanding achievements were also made in other cultural fields. This great culture has stood the test of time and is still appreciated by many people today. But it has also spurred subsequent generations on to their very own achievements. The great minds on the high pedestal did not crush their successors, but inspired them. In almost every era, there was a lively intellectual and cultural production in Germany. Many creative artists around the world therefore hold the country in high esteem.

If you live in Germany, you can read the original works of these writers. You can also visit the birthplaces and places of work of many writers. Theatre plays and operas are performed in prestigious buildings. The state of Germany not only draws on its rich culture. It also takes care of it. The performance of theatre plays or the printing of historically critical editions of works are supported by public funds.

This allows people to enjoy many beautiful performances. Exposure to the country's high cultural assets is taught right from school. However, emphasis is also always placed on contemporary culture and artistic production. Few other countries give such a broad population access to the country's important cultural assets. And few other countries have so many writers and poets who have dealt with many different issues at different times.

The country offers its population culture at its finest. There are many discounts or financial support for people with little money. No one is excluded from access to culture. Anyone interested in culture will find a broad programme of high-quality entertainment in Germany. German poets and thinkers have dedicated themselves to the political events of their time as well as to the existential questions of human existence. And German literature also offers the right book for every age group.

From famous children's books and classics for young people to literature with high philosophical standards, the literary canon has many exciting works to offer. In Germany, people will never run out of things to talk about. The exciting stories and great literary works entertain and at the same time convey important insights into human life. These are qualities that can make life more enjoyable. Many people from other countries envy the country for its large number of writers and good books that are remembered for a long time.
